My Pinterest Home Favorites

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Since I'm moving into my first apartment in August, home decor has definitely been on my mind lately. I've been scavenging through Pinterest a lot for inspiration and I've found so many quality DIY'S. These are just a few of the things I'd like to make into a reality this summer. Craft fest anyone? I'm so glad my roommates are as interested in decorating our place as I am.

On another note, I applied for a summer web design internship today! I'm so ready to dive into this break. I have a pretty good feelin' about what's ahead. My classes already end Friday, and then I just have to take my finals. Woo! Gonna be finished with my first year of college. Time flies.

Addictive Album of The Week

The National- High Violet (2010)
For Fans Of: Interpol, Editors, Joy Division, The Walkmen, The Antlers, Arcade Fire
I'm a sucker for bands whose lead singers have classic baritone voices. The National is no exception. I fell in love with their 2007 release Boxer, but I might like their latest album even more. High Violet manages to be deeply melodic, yet subtly creepy. The way Matt Berninger brushes through lines will have you do a double take when you suddenly realize he's saying he's afraid he'll eat your brains because he's evil. We're talking lots of metaphorical talk about zombies, ghosts and being carried into Ohio in a swarm of bees. Get excited.

There's also some noteworthy background vocals in the album such as those of Sufjan Stevens in "Afraid of Everyone" and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver in "Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks."

My Favorite Tracks: Conversation 16, Anyone's Ghost, Bloodbuzz Ohio

Enjoy some High Violet this week. Happy listening.

Adventures in Denton

This weekend I met with my two future roommates to check out our new apartment! This lovely lady above is my good friend and future roomie Gabby, who showed me around Denton. Check out her awesome blog, Simplistic Appeal for more photos of her outfits! Yay for blogging roomies! I have a good year ahead of me.

Like Sister, Like Sister

Meet my little sister, Carolynne. Isn't she a cutie?! She's the coolest and also my best friend. She's the one who takes all my outfit photos with my little camera. Naturally, she wanted to make an appearance on my blog and dress up too. Here are the photos we snapped...
She's getting so old... fitting into my dresses and all! Hope your day was lovely! We're off to watch TV shows and eat apple cinnamon sticks.

Where Soul Meets Body

Here's a few photos my good friend, Natasha Stoked, took the other day of Melanie and I. We got some good pictures in right before the sun started to set. This is front of Melanie's house actually, on her gorgeous land. We're having a second photo shoot sometime in the near future to finish where we left off. Woooo. I'm already planning some outfits in my head.

I've been a terribly lazy blogger lately, but I'll surely be more active once this semester is over.

Skinny Baked Jalapeño Poppers

Hi ya. Guess what? I found something else I can add to the small list of edible things I can cook.. Baked jalapeño poppers! Fried poppers are my favorite appetizers ever- especially the ones from Razoo's and Texas Roadhouse. These are a much healthier, yet still delicious baked alternative.

Ingredients: 12 Jalapeños, Panko bread crumbs, 4 tbsp cream cheese, shredded mixed cheese, 1/2 cup egg whites, 1/8 tsp paprika and 1/8 tsp crushed cayenne pepper.

Steps: Set out three bowls. Combine bread crumbs, cayenne pepper and paprika in the first. Combine cream cheese and shredded cheese in the second, and fill the last one with egg whites.

-Preheat oven to 350
-Slice the peppers in half length wise, leave some seeds for extra taste.
-Fill the peppers with the cheese filling, then dip them in the egg whites.
-Dip them in the panko mixture, and then lay out on pan.
-Cook until nice and golden. (About 25 minutes)

Hope you all are having a marvelous Monday!

All Eyes On The Calendar (April 3rd)

I turned 19 today, marking my last year as a "teenager." How crazy. What's even crazier however, is the tornado frenzy that was the Dallas-Fort Worth area today. Can't say I expected to spend most of today glued to the weather channel in a bit of a panic. Luckily there were no tornados near me, and I'm so thankful for that. The town I was working in last year was hit pretty hard and it's been really awful seeing people from the area post photos of the after-mass.
Life in "Tornado Alley" during April is always a scare.

My day was able to be salvaged when the weather improved and I got to have a little birthday dinner at a sushi restaurant with my wonderful family. It's been quite the day. Here's the cake they gave me! It's actually strawberry shortcake. :3
